The Paris Complex

I think we’ve all had this dream. The one where we’d hop on a plane to Europe and land in the City of Love with nothing in our hands but our passports and the world at our fingertips. A flaky croissant would be on the agenda for lunch and we’d come back with a book’s worth of stories to tell our friends about the guy we’d met in the bookshop around the corner from our hotel.

Because it’s only fitting that you’d fall in love in the City of Love.

Most known for its fashion sense, pose, and the culture that seeps through its cobblestone streets, Paris is a place everyone has dreamed of visiting at least some point in their lives.

Maybe it’s the blunt personalities of the locals or the bridge with so many locks on it that it’s nearly fallen into the river below. Could it be the paintings that adorn the walls of nearly every building or the stories the streets whisper at 2 in the morning when almost no one is around to listen? Or maybe it’s simply because it’s Paris, darling.

Maybe it’s the endless possibilities the city holds. Outside the obvious destinations of the Eiffel Tower, The Arc de Triomphe, the Louvre, and the Palace of Versailles, there is plenty to do without ever getting bored. Some places include:

1. Notre Dame de Paris

2. Musée d’Orsay

3. Centre Georges Pompidou

4. Musée de l’Orandgerie

5. Catacombs of Paris

6. Père Lachaise Cemetery

7. Musée Rodin

8. Canal Saint-Martin

9. Place de la Bastille

10. Sainte-Chapelle

Though some people think Paris and New York are similar, with their busy streets, highways, and fashion industry at the core of it all, Paris seems a tad more chic.

The fashion industry in each city is some of the greatest on the planet. People flock to their fashion weeks in the masses just to get a glimpse of the next big thing. That is also where the two differ. Paris, with its delicate craftsmanship and centuries of practising perfection, presents a different vibe than New York. The city itself is vintage to the core. Gracefully decorated buildings with minute details one can overlook if you weren’t paying attention. Flowers sprawled around every street corner and cafes just begging for you to come in, Paris reels you in and never lets you go.
