Let me tell you, it’s one hell of a ride. Through my experience, I have learnt so much about others and myself. I have found who I am and who I want to be. It has helped me discover the values I believe in, the friends that deserve my time and the things that truly matter in life.
I am not saying I have it all figured out or that I know where I’ll be in 20 years from now. What I’m saying is that high school is an adventure. An adventure filled with risks to take, choices to make and obstacles to overcome. It is a journey where the destination is unsure. It is a moment in your life where you have the opportunity to try new things and live a little.
Trust me when I say that high school is not easy. Friend problems, grade problems, stress, anxiety… You start questioning yourself about who you are or who you should be. “Am I pretty enough?” “Am I smart enough?” “Am I good enough?” You start questioning yourself about your future and where you want to go because the “what do you want to be” question is constantly being asked. But the truth is we are way too young to know what the future holds.
Just know that when it gets hard it will get better and the more problems you have to face, the stronger you’ll become. One lesson you have to take out of high school is that you have to take every challenge as an opportunity. An opportunity to grow and an opportunity to discover your true self.
The most important thing I’ve learnt is that being yourself is what truly matters. You have to accept the fact that people will dislike you because that’s just reality. By being true to who you are you will find friendships that are forever, you will stop caring what others think and you will enjoy your journey a little more.
High school isn’t only about the work and the tests. It’s about being a kid and having fun. Being stupid and not caring.
It’s about being open-minded and trying new things and if that new thing doesn’t turn out right you get back up on your feet and try something else. Every high school experience is different but try to make yours an experience to write about.
So to that I say, high school only happens once so cherish it, learn, grow and enjoy it. Remember to stay positive but also, remember that it’s ok to burst into tears sometimes. Be yourself and whether you are sad to leave or happy to go, high school is something you’ll remember forever.
Love you all!
